“Oberfeldwebel Hoffmann has outstandingly distinguished himself as the wingman for his Staffelkapitän. Over the course of many tirelessly executed missions he has so far shot down a total of 34 enemy aircraft. Also to his credit are numerous successful ground-attack missions against the Soviets, which brought much needed relief to the hard-pressed ground troops.”
