Son of Oberst Günther von Below (1868-1933)
Adolf Hitler's Luftwaffe adjutant from 1937 through 1945.

1929: trained as pilot in the Deutsche Verkehrsfliegerschule (DVS—German Air Transport School)
1929-1933: served with the Reichsheer Infanterie-Regiment 12
1933-1937: served with Jagdgeschwader 132 "Richthofen" and then transferred to Jagdgeschwader 26
16.06.1937: Luftwaffenadjutanten - Reichskanzlerei
30.04.1945: left the Führerbunker in Berlin and joined Gerhardt Boldt, Bernd Freytag von Loringhoven and Oberst Rudolf Weiss in Pichelsdorf.
07.01.1946: arrested by the British troops and sent to the POW camp in Delmenhorst
14.05.1948: released
