“During a Soviet breakthrough attempt along Stalingrad’s northern front in September 1942 Albert Dressel left his security position on his own initiative when he recognized the main effort of the enemy’s tank attack. He immediately attacked the far larger enemy force and eliminated 37 enemy tanks with his Zug, a total of which he was personally responsible for 16.”
