“The lighthouse hill on the extreme eastern tip of the Kertsch peninsula was the last heavily fortified and occupied defensive position of the Russians. By concentrating both Bataillone in a decisive moment, as well as through his own personal bravery, Oberleutnant Dürrwanger brought about a total victory for the attack. The assault against the rocky hideout produced 8100 enemy prisoners (a third of which were wounded) and 2100 enemy dead.”
