Biography
Wilhelm Franken died in an accident on 13th January 1945 on board of the accommodation vessel Daresalam. At that moment he was Referent in the Stab Kommandierender Admiral der U-Boote with the rank of Korvettenkapitän.

“Kapitänleutnant and U-Boat captain Franken has so far sunk a troop transport, a tanker, 4 freighters and 2 sail boats (altogether totalling 45000 GRT) as well as a British destroyer. He furthermore torpedoed 2 freighters (totalling 20000 GRT) that most likely sank as well.”
