The following press article describes the Knight’s Cross actions of Bruno Fröhlich as follows…

“After the fall of his Kompanie commander during the defensive battles in the Rzhev area, Feldwebel Fröhlich took over leadership of the Kompanie. He then led it forwards in such a way that the far numerically superior enemy was pushed back. Feldwebel Fröhlich defended the position with his Grenadiers successfully against all mass attacks of the Soviets. A few days later he found a heroes’ death during a counterthrust.”

Awarded posthumously.
