The following press notice describes why Fulda would receive the Knight’s Cross…
“Leutnant Wilhelm Fulda was born on the 21.05.1909 in Antwerp. He received his baptism of fire during the air landing operation in Holland and was decorated with the Iron Cross First Class. His operation at the Corinth Canal was so outstandingly prepared and conducted that his assigned mission was carried out according to plan and with total success up to its closure. During the landing itself he fearlessly participated in the ground battle alongside his men, and through his ruthless actions showed himself to be a model of a fighter and combat commander.”
