Biography

Born June 10, 1917, to Henry Spiese Aurand (class of 1915, USMA West Point, later LTG USA) and Margaret John Decker. Graduated USNA Annapolis class of 1938. First naval officer to land a jet on an aircraft carrier. Served as Dwight D. Eisenhower's Naval Aide during his second term of office. Helped remodel Camp David for the President's use. Retired as Commander, Anti-submarine Warfare Pacific (VADM) October, 1972. Died in Honolulu, June 7, 1989.
