"As mid-upper gunner, Sergeant Jones has participated in many sorties involving attacks on well defended targets in Germany. He has at all times displayed great determination, while bis skill and vigilance have contributed to the safe return of his aircraft on more than 1 occasion. His good qualities were amply demonstrated one night in September, 1943, during a sortie against Hanover. During the operation he engaged a Junkers 88 which, following a well directed burst of fire, was observed to fall to the ground in flames. This airman is a skilful and courageous gunner. "
