Erhard Ebser was born on 24th April 1910 in Leonberg, Germany. From 1912 onwards he lived in Heilbronn. He studied Geography in Tübingen from 1931 until 1935. After his study he served for 6 months in the Reichswehr. and then started teaching Geography and Chemistry at the Karls Oberschule in Heilbronn. In 1939 he was reactivated as an officer with Infanterie-Reigment 34 in Heilbronn. The same year he married to Irmgard Rixecker. The couple had a son Wilfried in September 1940.
Ebser served in 1940 in Belgium with the rank of Leutnant and was send to the Eastern Front in 1941 and took part in the drive to Moscow. In 1943 he again became father, but his son Ulrich died after 14 days. After being wounded in 1943 he became teacher at the Milirary Academy at Potsdam until 1945. In 1945 he again was wounded during the Battle for Berlin. His final achieved rank became Hauptmann.
He became POW with the Soviets, but managed to escape form a prisoncamp at Frankfurt/Oder in December 1945. After hiding and travelling he arrived in Heilbronn in May 1946.
After having had several operation in 1946/1947, he started again as a teacher in Geography and Chemistry in 1948 at the Theodor-Heuss Gymnasium in Heilbronn which job he held until 1977. In 1949 he and his wife had a daughter (Gudrun) and in 1956 another son (Konrad).
Erhard Ebser died in February 1992.
