"I had been on night watch at the factory I worked in during an air raid on the city of AACHEN. Namely the Veltrup Werke, which was damaged in due course. Because of my action in damage control I was recommended by the S.S. Lager Commandant Sieberts, in charge of Security for the before mentioned Award.
I can't remember as to who did the presentation, but the Commandant and the Owner of the Armament factory, Mr. Anton Veltrup was present & the Commandant interduced me after the presentation to Mr. Veltrup, the reason that I remember the details are, Veltrup inquired about the where abouts of the award. I had put it in my pocket and consequently I got a dressing down. The presentation took place in the gardens of the Quellenhof Hotel in Aachen"
