Citation:
"For sevices on the occaision of the discovery of a bomb in the British Pavilion, New York World's Fair. The bomb which was of great destructive power exploded after being removed, killing two officers and injuring six others."
The on 30th April 1939 opened World Fair was to last until 27th October 1940. Although the United States at that time was not involved in the Second World War, that war dit have its effect on the Fair. At the opening of the 1940 season (from April until October 1940), the pavilions of Czechoslowakia and Poland did not reopen. On 4th July the mentioned timebomb exploded in the British Pavilion, killing two New York Police Department Officers.
