"Has decorated himself by brave actions against the enemy, when jumping from a train with Dutch POW-officers that were transported in January 1944 and reaching Budapest over the Carpates. Then in Budapest, even after it was occupied by German troops in March 1944, having served the Dutch and Allied couse under very difficult circumstances. Further by being taken prisoner by the Germans in April 1944 and managing to escape again; going to the Netherlands and participating in the resistance against the enemy. Finally by, after being taken prisoner again in January 1945, managing to escape from emprisonment for a third time going to Danmark, where he was liberated by British troops in May 1945."
