"Has distinguished himself by acting bravely against the enemy when he on May 10th, 1940, serving with 5e Compagnie from IV Depotbataljon Infanterie, which company solely consisted of soldiers who only had a three months basic training, was detailed to help retaking the by the enemy conquered airfield Ypenburg, in doing so showing outstanding service. Specially by, after the firing of the own artillery on the airfield stopped, together with his section commander without hesitation storming forward and nursing his commander after he was hit by enemy fire, after that taking his place and staying on the airfield the whole night."
