Charles R. Murphy enlisted on 3rd April 1941 in Syracuse, New York. He received basic Artillery training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Here he was part of the 2nd Regiment, FARTC, playing in the Drum and Bugle Corps. Later he was send to Europe.
