Biography

Son of a French general, studied in the Marists in Tien Tsin - China, Lycée Hoche in Versailles, Lycée Gouraud in Rabat - Morocco and Prytanée militaire in La Flèche (Sarthe) before entering the military academy Ecole spéciale militaire in Saint-Cyr in October 1936 choosing to serve in the colonial infantry.

October 1938 : assigned in Cahors to the 16e Régiment de tirailleurs sénégalais (16e RTS) as 1st lieutenant and designated to Chad.
26 August 1940 : rallied the Free French Forces as leader of a meharist platoon in the Tibesti.

Fall 1940 : took over the command of 3rd platoon (meharist) - Groupe nomade of theTibesti (GNT) led by capitaine Sarazac and belonging to Leclerc's column.
December 1940 - January 1941: failed raid with the GNT againts an Italian outpost in Tedjéré.
February 1942 : 1st campaign in the Fezzan (Libyan desert) victorious attack against the italian outpost in Tédjéré.
January 1943 : 2nd campaign in the Fezzan where he played a decisive role in the capitulation of the Italian garrison in Gatroun.

April 1943 : with a then motorised GNT within L Force took part to the liberation of Tunesia taking over the command of the GNT at the end of the campaign.
July 1943 : promoted captain commanding the 6th COY IInd Bat. of the newly created Régiment de marche du Tchad (RMT).

22 October 1943 : killed by a landmine during an exercise ivo Constantine - Algeria - repatriated and buried in Recey-sur-Ource (Côte d'Or - France).
