Biography

René-Georges Weill was a French lawyer. And being a reserve Infantry Lieutenant he was called up at the outbreak of WW2 and fought during the French Campaign in June 1940.
21.06.1940 : joined per ship the Free French troops in London via Sète, Spain and Gibraltar;
1940 : appointed deputy commander of the 1st Free French paratrooper unit;
January 1941: commander of the 1st Free French paratrooper unit;
1941 : severely wounded during a training jump - joined the Free French secret services (BCRA);
March 1942 : appointed to general de Gaulle staff;
28.05.1942: even if wounded, volunteered to jump ivo Paris as head of the mission 'Goldfish' to liaise with all the communists groups in France;
His NCO having been tortured, when Weill he was captured by the Gestapo he commited suicide with his cyanide pill to remain silent.
