"For extraordinary achievement in aerial flight against the enemy in the European Theater of Operations on 18 August 1944. Lt. Uhlman exhibited superior airmanship and courage in the area of Orleans, France when he made a dive-bombing run through intense enemy fire and released his bombs directly upon a convoy of enemy motor transports. Observing another convoy nearby, he courageously flew his battle-damaged airplane in three strafing runs through antiaircraft and small arms fire to destroy nine additional motor transports. Lt.
