"For as matroos-voorman of the s.s. "IRIS", which was attacked on 18th March 1944, at about 16.44 hrs, by two aircraft with brisantbombes and heavy machinegun fire, under dangerous circumstances acted with courage ant tact in the placing overboard of a not exploded bomb which had follen on the forwar of the ship, in which way he contributed to the saving of the ship and cargo."
