Gustav Müller was a German citizen and until 1934 active for the KPD (Kommunistixhe Partei Deutschland) in Solingen. In December 1944 het fled to the Netherlands. Here he produced with other refugees, materials for the illegal KPD in Germany.

During the war he lived hidden and worked within a German-Dutch resistance organisation. He was arrested and convicted to two years imprisonment in 1944.
