On the 25.09.1943, from its positions 120 km south of Gomel, the 251. Infanterie-Division prevented a Soviet breakthrough despite having been reduced to a strength of just 5000 men. This action resulted in the Division being named in the Wehrmachtbericht of the 29.10.1943, as well as the award of the Knight’s Cross to its commander Generalmajor Felzmann.
2365th Heer Award.
Awarded for his bitter defense of, and breakout from, Brest-Litovsk. He and his troops defended the city for three days against two-and-a-half Soviet armies. Following this Generalleutnant Felzmann broke out of the city on the 27.07.1944 while saving 75% of his troops.
