    Biography

    Aniela Krzywon joined the LWP in 1943 and died due to her wounds substained during the Battle of Lenino. She was the first Polish female who received the Gold Star.

    Aniela Krzywon was the only non Soviet female that received the HSU. She supposedly sacrificed her life to save her wounded comrades and important headquarters documents when their truck was attacked by German planes.

    She was a Szeregowiec (riadovoy) nurse in 2nd fusilier komp., 1st bat. (E. Plater) 1st Inf. Div. (T. Kozciuszko).
