The Saskatoon Light Infantry (M.G.), 1st Canadian Infantry Division, Canadian Army
Awarded on:
December 30th, 1944
Recommendation:
During the period 1 January to 30 April 1944, in the fighting from Ortona to the Arielli River and during the comparatively static action which followed, Major de Faye consistently displayed the same high qualities of leadership and organizing ability which had characterized his handling of the Brigade Support Group which he commanded from the initial landing in Sicily. By his energy and example, exceeding the dictates of duty, he instilled in all ranks under his command a degree of determination and persistence which enabled them to carry out their allotted tasks in such a manner as to make an outstanding contribution to the success of operations.
