Dieter Weinitschke entered service with the Luftwaffe in 1941. He was placed with 5. / Jagdgeschwader 5 and served in Finland. After having been shot down on March 12th, 1943 near Murmashi, Murmansk Oblast, he was taken Prisoner-of-War on March 13th. He returned to Germany in 1949.
He was credited with a total of 19 victories.
