"For heroic and outstanding achievement while participating in aerial flights in the European Theater of Operations. Lt. Green has exhibited unusual tactical skill and resourcefulness while leading a flight of P-47 type aircraft on many combat missions over occupied France. Despite the grave hazards presented by intense anti-aircraft fire from gun encampments, he has pressed forward the attack with calm disregard for his own personal safety. While engaging the foe in aerial battle, he has revealed an intense zeal and fighting spirit which have served to inspire the other members of his organization; Lt. Green's eminent skill and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Army Air Forces."
