Iva H. Johnson entered service on September 9th, 1944 at Indianapolis, Indiana. He left for Europe on February 19th, 1945 to arrive there on February 24th. He became a prisoner of war on April 14th, 1945, but was liberated shortly after. He returned to the United States on May 28th, 1945. On May 5th, 1946 he was honorably discharged.
