Has distinguished himself by courageous conduct against the enemy after having joined an important military intelligence group in the enemy-occupied Netherlands after September 1944 and having been active as a contributor in the region Zuid-Holland Oost, section Woerden and having set up the local group in this initially in military aspect unimportant region, having passed on valuable information on retreating German troops from Brabant.
Further by having set up reconnaissance work in January 1945 in the Betuwe and the Bommelerwaard, which was a restricted area, and having carried out this work in such a commendable manner that with each crossong from occupied into liberated territory, extremely valuable reports on this sector of the front could be passed on until he, shortly before the liberation was arrested by the enemy under compromising circumstances and despite harsh interrogations and having been sentenced to death, refusing to disclose names. By his conduct he rendered valuable service to the Allied war effort and the Dutch Government.
