Recommendation:
"From 11 May to 19 Aug 1942. Has accompanied Capt. Chapman on one sortie behind the enemy lines, which lasted 93 days. He was responsible for the transmission by W/T of over 50 messages. This he accomplished under very trying conditions with a very high standard of efficiency. He never once thought of his own safety. The area in which he worked was in the vicinity of Chaulan. At the end of the time agreed upon for the duration of this sortie Capt. Chapman was asked to remain for a further period, duration of which was unspecified. Cpl. Brandreth immediately volunteered to remain with him and showed great devotion to duty."
