Sergeant Johannes van der Linden of the 1st Company of the II Battalion of the 17th Infantry Regiment, was killed on 11 May 1940 around 15.00 by a shot in the head at the canal along the road to Zijtaart. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery in Zijtaart and was later reburied at the cemetery in Den Bosch Groenendaal.
