A career soldier, Martin Anthony Higgins enlisted in the Manchester Regiment on August 18th, 1930.
He was in the 2nd Battalion during WW2 which went to France in 1939, back to the UK after Dunkirk, then to India and then Burma.
Pat Higgins continued in the Army after War, serving in the Malaya Emergency and with a final overseas posting to Bahrein. He left what had become the King's Regiment (Manchester & Liverpool) in 1960, having attained the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class, Company Sergeant Major.
