"Sgt Peter Jan Jens has acted as interpretor to this Regt since Oct 1944. During the whole of this period his outstanding ability, extraordinary devotion to duty and complete disregard for his personal safety have been an example to all.
Since crossing the Rhine he has been with every forward recce that the Regt has made. He has constantly been up with the leading tanks in a soft skinned veh and as a part of his normal daily duties has recce and cleared areas and houses prior to occupation by the Regt.
In addition to his normal interprters duties he has shown great energy and drive in seeking out hostile elements, dealing with displaces persand interrogation. The result of his work has been that many important docs and PW have been extracted froam a mass of material and set speedily to rear HQs.
Prior to the arrival of Allied Mil Gov officials he has, on his own initiative, acted for them and his sound common sense and power of command have the won the respect of all.
His untiring energy and willingness to tackle any sort of job has been most astounding and of very great value both to his Regt and to the Army as a whole."
