Recommendation:
"F/Sgt. Brown has now completed 25 sorties against such targets as Berlin (6 times), Hanover (3 times), Hamburg (twice), Nuremberg (twice) and Leipzig (twice). On the 20/21st October, 1943, the aircraft in which he was mid-upper gunner was detailed to attack Leipzig. As the aircraft was leaving the target area it was attacked by a twin-engined enemy aircraft. Both the rear gunner and F/Sgt. Brown opened fire and strikes were observed on the enemy airraft. it immediately broke off the engagement and was later seen to be on fire. This aircraft was climed as possibly destroyed. On three other occasions the aircraft in which F/Sgt. Brown has been flying has been attacked by enemy fighters. This NCO's skill as an air gunner has been proved repeatedly and his keeness and enthusiasm for operational flying makes hima most valued member of the squadron as well as invaluable to his crew."
