Joseph Arbour was an air gunner, killed when the Halifax, detailed to bomb the railyards at Louvain, Belgium as part of an 120 aircraft raid was shot down by a Luftwaffe night-fighter ace, Major Martin Drewes, in a Me 110.
In July 1948, the crew posthumously received the Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm.
On September 5th, 1997 Halifax LW682 was excavated from its muddy grave 30 kilometers from Brussels.
Three crew members were found, still in their plane and laid to rest in Geraardsbergen, Belgium near the rest of their crew members on November 10th, 1997.
