"In June 1940, when seventeen Heinkel 111's were sighted, Pilot Officer Daw succeeded in destroying two and, immediately afterwards, shot down a Messerschmitt 109 which was attacking one of his fellow pilots. Previously in May 1940, he carried out a head on attack on three enemy aircraft and destroyed the leader, and a few days later he destroyed another Messerschmitt 109. By his tenacity, skill and courage this officer has succeeded in destroying a total of six enemy aircraft."
