Description:
He has distinguished himself on May 13th, 1940 near Hoogvliet (IJsselmonde) in battle against the enemy by deeds of exceptional tact and courage, repairing the front which was under serious threat by the enemy. In order to reach a forward section, he had to move several hundred yards under hostile fire. He volunteered for this operation. On arrival at the section, he repaired a heavy machinegun which he operated until he was killed.
