Biography

Pilot officer Royal Navy

As a pilot officer in the Naval Aviation Service in the then Dutch East Indies, Adriani made several war flights after the outbreak of war with Japan. As commander of the Dornier Do 24K flying boat X-29, he had to make an emergency landing near Surabaya due to engine failure in February 1942. The flying boat overturned and sank immediately. Adriani was rescued, but succumbed to injuries sustained on February 11, 1942. He was buried at the Kembang Kuning cemetery in Surabaya and was posthumously awarded the Airman's Cross.
