Biography
The 23-year-old Flight Engineer Freddie Wood was one of the crew members aboard the Lancaster PB193, on 12 September 1944 at 18.22 they departed from airbase RAF Tuddenham. Their mission: a bombing raid over the city of Frankfurt in Germany. For unknown reasons it crashed in Vitry-lès-Nogent. All seven crew members were killed, they are all buried in this cemetery.
