Johannis Christiaan Borgdorff was born in Overschie on 15 December 1908. He was married and had four children. In daily life he was an inspector at an insurance company; the family lived in Groningen. Under the pseudonym 'Chris' he was involved in both the LO / OD and the newspaper Trouw. On suspicion of providing housing to a resistance fighter of the KP (fighting squad) he was arrested on 5 September 1944, two days after the birth of his youngest daughter. On 19 September 1944 he was transported from the Scholtenhuis in Groningen, the headquarters of the SD (Sicherheitsdienst), to Exloo. He was probably shot immediately upon arrival there. On 20 July 1945 his body was found in the Exloo/Odoorn region and reburied on 4 August 1945 at the Noorderbegraafplaats in Groningen.
