Biography

Garl Willard Hardin was born on April 16th, 1919 as son to Julius Edmond Hardin and Clair Isabel Braswell. He was educated at the East Texas State College.

During the Second World War he served as pilot on Curtiss SB2C-1C Helldiver BuNo 18454 with Bombing Squadron 2 (VB-2), operating from U.S.S. Hornet (CV-12). He was reported missing in action on March 30th, 1944 during Operation Desecration and was formally declared dead on January 16th, 1946. His name was added to the "Tablets of the Missing" at the Fort William Mckinley Memorial in Manila, Philippines. He reached the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade).
