Ronald Henry Fokes was born as son to Henry Max Augustus Fokes en Grace Fokes. He was married to Audrey Eileen Fokes.

Ronald Henry Fokes was hit by anti aircraft fire on June 12th, 1944, flying his Hawker Tyfoon MN372, FM-A, during a ground attack. In this he was killed. His remains were buried in Soulangy and in 1945 transferred to the War Cemetery at Banneville-la-Campagne. On June 5th, 2010 a memorial to him was erected at thechurch in Soulangy.

"In October, 1940, this airman was on patrol with his squadron at 30,000 feet, when a formation of more than twenty Messerschmitt 109s was sighted. Sergeant Fokes attacked one, and followed it down to the ground where it crashed. He has displayed great courage and tenacity and has personally destroyed at least six enemy aircraft."
