"During the period of operations under review (16 Feb 45 - 15 May 45) Jamadar Nawab Khan has shown in action courage and organizing ability of a high order which has been an inspiration to his machine gunners.

During the infantry attack on a key Pagoda position in the SINGHU area, Jemadar Nawab Khan without hesitation placed his guns in an exposed position in order to give the infantry the maximum supporting fire possible. He controlled, whilst under enemy shell fire, the machine gun supporting fire with coolness and skill until he leading infantry were within one degree of the machine gun supporting fire. The attack was completely successful, our own infantry suffering one casualty only. On capturing the objective twenty Jap bodies were discovered, mainly killed by this effective and accurate machine gun supporting fire.

In March 1945 during the mopping up operations South of MANDALAY, Jemadar Nawab Khan was commanding six machine guns during an attack on a village. His machine guns came under heavy enemy shell fire and automatic fire whilst supporting the infantry. This officer again showed courage under fire, setting a fine example to his gun teams by giving clear orders and imposing himself in order to encourage his men and maintain the fire effect. He kept his guns successfully in action during the whole of the infantry advance which finally ended in the capture of the village.

During April 1945, Jemadar Nawah Khan's platoon of machine guns was successful on two night ambushed resulting in the killing of dozen and six enemy respectively.

Jemadar Nawab Khan's courage and organizing ability in action during the period of operation under review have been of the highest order giving his men the utmost confidence at all times."
