Citation:
"In this action on 21 Apr this officer led his Coy, reduced to 2 weak platoons, in the final and succesful attack on pt 290 under heavy M.G. and Mortar fire. He was with his leading troops and personally shot a German Sergeant-Major and a Pte, capturing an A/Tlc Gun and a large wireless installation as well as many machine guns. This attack was carries out in a text book manner. In the action on 22 Apr he took command when the Commanding Officer became a casualty and commanded for several hours until the 2nd i/c came to take over. His conduc througout the campaign has been an example of coolness and steadiness."
