“During the Polish campaign Major Fritz Iwand enabled the XII. Armee to conduct its victorious advance over the San river through his independent resolve and outstanding bravery as an Abteilung commander in a Kavallerieschützenregiment. During the western campaign he once again distinguished himself through his bravery during the operations in Holland.”
