The Catholic Kees Bos is an apprentice to baker Jan Kornelis Dwarshuis. During the war he is active in the National Organization for Aid to People in Hiding (L.O.). After the liquidation of NSB member Jannes Luitje Keijer, a large-scale raid takes place in Zuidwolde and the surrounding area. During that raid on April 25, 1944, Kees is also arrested. The men from Zuidwolde are gathered in café Hekma in Zuidwolde. Kees soon becomes the target of violence. He is beaten because he is known to be anti-German. The detainees have to stand against the wall and do 200 knee bends. Because Kees has large leather rags for his legs because of his work at the bakery, he is unable to do this. When the Germans notice that Kees cannot keep up, they hit him with a café chair and drag him outside. There he is shot dead.
