Roy B. Lewis was killed during the first attack on the Waalbridge in Nijmegen on September 17th, 1944. When trying to hide for enemy fire, he accidentally struck another para's bayonet, which punctiored an artary what killed him. Roy B. Lewis was at first buried at the temporary Molenhoek American Cemetery, Holland, Plot B, Row 1, Grave 19 and was later reburied at Margraten.
