A week after on November 4ht, 1944 the citiy of Antwerp was liberated, Hitler gave the command to prepare the destruction of the harbour installations in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Dutch workers were used to blow up the harbour walls. In Rotterdam a total of over 13 km walls were destroyed. The companies that worked on this were prosecuted by the Dutch resistance. On September 30th, 1944 at about 9.45 hrs the office of Khijff at the Heemraadssingel 223, 1st floor in Rotterdam was raided. One of the managers, Wouter Vaandrager was killed. At the moment Gerhard Neumann entered the room he was also shot by the resistance.
