    Biography

Klaas Paulus Rijper was born on 3 October 1922 in Nieuw-Weerdinge, in the municipality of Emmen. Klaas was unmarried and, through the actions of his brother Frans, became involved in acts of sabotage and raids on distribution offices. On 16 November 1944, Klaas, Frans and Hendrik van Dijk – who was in hiding at their home – were arrested by the notorious Amersfoort police officer Diederik Lutke Schipholt, assisted by a handful of military police. Two days later, on 18 November 1944, Klaas, Frans and Hendrik van Dijk were executed by firing squad on the Leusderheide.
