    Biography

    Lived in Amsterdam, Ceintuurbaan 380a. Son of mechanical and electrical engineer Leendert Filipson (March 14, 1883 Amsterdam - February 28, 1952 Amsterdam) and Carolina Augusta Lieftinck, (May 27, 1895 Apeldoorn). His parents' marriage ended in divorce in June 1931. Unmarried. Maritime school student. According to the War Graves Foundation and the Honor List of the Fallen, he was part of the resistance. Together with his friend Teunis Kooij (April 29, 1925 Amsterdam) he left by bicycle for liberated areas on January 5, 1945 at 4 a.m. Both were arrested along the way. Filipson and Kooij were shot with eight fellow sufferers as reprisal for the liquidation of Marinus Adrianus Simonis (November 14, 1888 Raamsdonksveer – February 17, 1945 Heinenoord). Simonis was NSB Circle Leader, acting mayor of the municipalities of Goudswaard, Nieuw-Beijerland and Piershil and former mayor of Leidschendam. Since Saturday, May 20, 1950, Filipson's name has been on the Mother memorial on the Blaaksedijk-Krooswijk highway in Heinenoord.
