    Biography

    Lived in Amsterdam, at 65hs Breestraat. Son of J. G. Schippers and W. C. A. Postma. Unmarried. Student. Dutch Reformed. Member of the resistance with the aliases Zeilemakers and Baanders.
    Despite a prosthesis after having his right leg amputated in an accident, he carried out espionage work and helped allied pilots who had crashed. He was also involved in the production of the illegal newspaper Het Parool. He was arrested on 1 March 1945 at his hiding place at Weteringschans 137. Seven days later, Schippers was executed, along with a number of fellow prisoners, at Rozenoord on the Amsteldijk as reprisal for the attack on SS-Befehlshaber Hanns Albin Rauter on 6 March 1945 at Woeste Hoeve.
    A park in Amsterdam is named after him.
