Biography

Lived in Amsterdam, Grianestraat 4. Son of Franciscus Gerardus Keve (3 October 1879 Amsterdam) and Maria Catharina Cornelia van Dam (24 March 1879). Married Josephina Elisabeth Johanna Boere on 16 October 1935 in Amsterdam, b. 26 June 1908 Hilversum (children: Gerardus Henricus Joannes, 8 January 1936 Amsterdam and Henricus Joannes, 23 February 1937 Amsterdam). Bookbinder/secretary/janitor at the Amsterdam City Theatre. Roman Catholic. Member of the resistance belonging to the KP-Amsterdam detective agency under the aliases Sjoerd de Boer and Boertje. From 1943, member of the resistance belonging to KP-Hilversum/Het Gooi. Then KP-Amsterdam. Thanks to a politically reliable bunker builder who had good contacts with the Germans, Keve had various cars at his disposal. Dressed in an immaculate white doctor's coat, he transported couriers, radio equipment, large batches of food ration cards and even German deserters in these vehicles. He penetrated unhindered into the so-called Sperrgebiet along the Dutch coastline from IJmuiden to Den Helder. He took photos or made sketches of important objects. He also organised money transports. On 1 November 1944, he was arrested during a street check after returning from a spy mission near Hook of Holland. The Germans determined that he was a spy because there were no papers present in the vehicle. This immediately made Keve a suspect. He was executed the day after his arrest. His death was only registered on 24 March 1947 in the population register of the municipality of The Hague under certificate number B883/1947 with the annotation ‘found dead on 24 March 1947’.
